EDWATEC SA is a high-tech startup founded in 2023 and a spin-off from EPFL. Our proprietary Erbium-doped photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology enables on-chip optical amplification and lasing. By replacing legacy optical amplifiers with our highly compact, high-performance, and scalable photonic integrated amplifiers, we create novel opportunities for various applications, such as optical interconnects for AI datacenters, autonomous driving, optical communication for space, quantum computing, optical metrology and sensing, long-haul communication, and more. We target a wide range of markets with significant economic potential, from data communication and space applications to optical metrology and fiber sensing.We are looking for two motivated interns to join our team and contribute to our product development. The duration of the internship is minimum 6 months.
Your tasks:
- Conduct optical tests and measurements of PICs
- Contribute to designing and building optical test and measurement setups to characterize PICs
- Contribute to IT tasks, data acquisition, and design coding
- Collaborate with the technology team to drive the development of cutting-edge products or services aligned with the company's vision
- Participate in trade shows to assist with product demonstrations and represent the company
Your profile:
- You must have a passion for hands-on technical work and problem solving, be resourceful, and intrinsically motivated to continuously learn
- Bachelor (BSc) or master's degree in engineering, optics, or physics
- Solid understanding of basics of optics & electronics. practical optics/photonics experience
- Must have excellent skills in Python programming
- Excellent proficiency in English, French is a plus; strong communication and collaboration skills
- Must have: Residence and work permit in Switzerland
